QuakeLive Parox Tutorial #1 Devmaps For Practice & Other Useful Commands & Config Options - also how to practice on strafe jumping maps and rocket jumping maps. Quick Note regarding the vid's quality: yes I am aware of dubbing issues, I say things a few moments after they occur in the vid. Also, a few 1 second instances here & there where it skipped over my audio. Still working with recording screencasts from quakelive and having it work well. Commands I covered: (not about using the slash ( / ) -- I had set some other commands so that I can chat with my console open - this is why I need to use the slash before my commands, if you have not activated this same command, you probably will not need the leading slash before all of these commands in your console. /devmap [mapname] (any map, like campgrounds, hearth, eye to eye etc) - strictly for practice, can't play other real players here other practice maps you might not be aware of: /devmap qzpractice1 (rocket jumping practice) /devmap qzpractice2 (strafe jumping practice) /addbot [model / character names like Xaero, Crash, Doom, Razor, etc] Not sure of the maximum but I think you can add at least 8 bots - great for rail practice, etc. /music [filename].ogg - can have a song or some music file play looped while you play QL. Must be ogg format. /bind e say Let loose the dogs of war! ---- binds the message to the letter E key. text color: press shift+6 which is the carat symbol ^ .. then select a number between 1 to 9 - this changes the text color for chat or binds, try it. 1 is red, and so forth. /bind e screenshot - pressing e from then on would save a screenshot of your game, social screenshots can be activated from the website menu as well as a bind set in the control panel hud if you don't wanna use this command, which sends your screenies to facebook if you desire. /cg_autoaction 2 (takes automatic screenshots of endgame scoreboards, have not tested, but it probably works.) /serverinfo - shows statistics about the server, including things like map name, and user rating #, which is more specific then tiers, thought I wonder if it resets every match, as I noticed it varies greatly. Zoom toggle - not sure of the console command for this, but I set it to YES in the control panel HUD, so I can click to zoom in, without having to HOLD the button down, and then click when I am ready to zoom out again. /cg_chatbeep 0 (turns off the chat beep in-game - use 1 as the variable to re-enable it) /cg_teamchatsonly 0 or 1 (you can make it so you only see team chat, and not the annoying trolling of the enemy team or random spectators, if you play a lot of CTF (capture the flag) or CA (clan arena) you might find this useful, I have not tried it yet, but I plan to. /web_chattimestamps 0 or 1 (set timestamps to show on the QL websites chat system... useful if you leave the website open and ur wondering how long ago one of your friends messaged) /block [playername] - the ultimate way to ignore a bad troll - blocks them from in-game chat, as well as website chat if you happen to have them on your friends list. here is one that is not in the vid but you can use: /model (modelname) to change models from console /model santa is on that's not available from the HUD and most people wouldn't know that command, was made available from last christmas devpicks.
