 This is a video on how to upgrade your kernel to a never version. The way I'm showing you, is a pretty easy and reliable way. I'm sure there's other ways to do this, but this is what I find easy. You can use Synaptic Package Manager as well and obviously you can also use the Update Manager.  Now here is the latest version of linux mint debian edition in release candidate form, and this is also the XFCE version but although there are a few little problems like the software manager, on the good side you can now use the current version of blender with openshot as you will see in the video, so no workrounds anymore for debian/mint users |

 Making a new kernel in Debian Linux is very easy when done correctly. However, there are many ways to go wrong. Since you are doing a clean build (make clean), all the files have to be compiled and linked. This process takes many hours and you may not discover a tiny mistake until the end. So it is important to get it right. This was the fourth attempt and I got it right. You may want to watch this video a couple of times before attempting to build your first kernel. Thanks to all the different sources I found on Internet. Debian.org especially the wiki was great help. |
